Lodge Milestones
Our Lodge

Enlightenment Lodge was born from a small group of men who desired a fulfilling Masonic experience centered on the initiatic and philosophical aspects of Masonry.  We began with a few men meeting for breakfast.  We formed a small Traditional Observance Club with the sole purpose of forming a new lodge that would be a manifestation of our vision.

We worked with the permission of our Grand Lodge and the Masonic Restoration Foundation.  In 2007 we received dispensation to work as a lodge.  Enlightenment Lodge U.D. met all of the requirements of a lodge under dispensation to receive s charter in January of 2008.  Enlightenment Lodge 198 has been fulfilling its mission ever since.

Associate Membership

nlightenment Lodge is a small and intimate lodge with an extraordinary focus on the initiatic experience and philosophical enrichment of its members.  Because we value the special and intimate experience created by Enlightenment, and to ensure a small and familial experience, we have capped our membership at 72.  However, for very special Brothers, who are already Master Masons in good standing, living outside of the geographical area of Colorado, who would like to benefit from the Enlightenment Lodge educational experience, we have an Associate Membership.  You must be proposed by a Regular Member of the lodge and voted upon by the lodge with unanimous consent.  This membership entitles the Brother to all of the papers and educational information and presentations prepared or presented by or at Enlightenment.  Further, you will also be invited to all meetings, to include those for whom visitors are refused.

For inquiries into Associate Membership please e-mail Brother Rob Herd, the Chairman of Masonic Formation, at robherd@enlightenmentlodge.com

Pillars of the Portico

  • Tolerating Intolerance
Yesterday evening the Jehovah’s Witnesses stopped by. It was the third time they’d come – I had already strung them along twice – and this time I was ready. I asked them right out the gate about their views of the hypostatic union. The word hypostasis describes the quality of union in the Trinity, that God [...]
  • Masonic Restoration, a wellspring of inspiration
On August 28 and 29th it was my privilege to attend the first Masonic Restoration Foundation convention hosted by Enlightenment Lodge No. 198 in Colorado Springs. The Masonic Restoration Foundation was founded nearly ten years ago. The plan: provide a format for elevating the Craft to its mystical intents and purposes and restore it to [...]
  • Literal Lessons from the 17º
“This faith, taught by John, and so nearly Christianity, could have been nothing but the doctrine of the Essenes; and there can be no doubt that John belonged to that sect.”  Albert Pike, Morals and Dogma, Chapter 17, “Knight of the East and West”. It’s a shame that we don’t get to see all the degrees [...]
  • By Bro. Cliff Porter.  From The Relevant Mason. They snickered when he walked by, the two Brothers, longtime past masters and longtime members of the lodge; both slightly deaf thought they were whispering. “Is he a wizard or just a wackjob?” the man had asked. Both giggled and snorted a bit, the other responded, “I don’t [...]
  • New magazine in production!
A new magazine, of interest to Masons, is in production.  It’s title:  LVX. LVX will contain articles concerning comparative religion, esoterica, commentary, poetry, art, history, philosophy, among other topics of interest to the student of life.  It will not be wordy, nor fall prey to the pretentions common to the genre of “esoterica”.  Rather it will [...]
